Mindfulness and meditation teacher

About me

I am a mindfulness and meditation teacher based in Glasgow, Scotland. After over a decade of teaching meditation, I qualified as a secular mindfulness teacher, accredited by the UK CPD Standards Office.Areas of interest include trauma-informed meditation teaching, mindfulness for LGBTQ+ people and community mindfulness.I have a particular interest in utilising mindfulness teaching and practice to tackle the challenges of the modern world, especially the demands of modern technology on our attention.

Mindfulness and technology

We live in a time where human attention is more in-demand than ever. Our attention is commodified, it is captured and sold for profit. This is big business - attention merchants make up many of the most valuable companies in the world. These corporations' profitability is based on how much of our attention they can steal - and they use incredibly powerful tools, including vast swathes of ill-gotten data, to do this.No wonder we all feel like we're on our phones too much. We're in a struggle for our attention, and the other side has all the weapons. No wonder we've seen a rapid proliferation of tools to help us regain control of our attention. Screentime trackers, app blockers, all manner of self-help books. As a mindfulness teacher, I believe that the struggle for our attention is of utmost importance. In order to fight back against such vastly overresourced opposition, we need all the tools at our disposal. App blockers can only take us so far. We need something more.Mindfully Resisting Attention Capitalism is an 8-week course, combining mindfulness practices, digital wellbeing techniques and critical education on why, and how, these companies struggle for our attention. It is designed to help us develop the skills and knowledge to come to a more intentional relationship with technology.Find out more by clicking the button below.
